Almost one in four women aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime.

In the year ending March 2024, around 2.3 million people between the ages of 16 and 74 reported experiencing domestic abuse. This includes 1.6 million women and 757,000 men.

The message for women and men experiencing domestic abuse is the same:

You are not alone. It is not your fault. Help is available.

You can find more information on domestic abuse support available in Oxfordshire on the Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse website.

You can call the Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0800 731 0055 (Monday to Friday 10am to 7pm) and they will provide emotional support and practical information for adults affected by domestic abuse.

Living in a home where domestic abuse happens can have a serious impact on a child or young person’s mental and physical wellbeing, as well as their behaviour. And this can last into adulthood.

All children should have a safe and stable environment to grow up in.

If you’re dealing with domestic abuse, or know someone who is, ask for help today.
